Northern Forest to bring first points
The Federation Internationale de l'Automobile stood up for the rights of women. It may sound strange for the Europeans, but even in XXI century the strict traditions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia don't allow female competitors taking part in motorsport events. The country's government promised to allow crews with female members on-board to the start of the Baja, but unfortunately failed to keep their promise.
Therefore, the Ha'il Baja in Saudi Arabia officially stays the first round of the FIA Cup, but it won't count for points in the series. The "Saint-Petersburg - Northern Forest" Baja 2009, being the 2nd event in the calendar, becomes the first points-scoring round of the International Cup and the venue where competitors can kick off their title assault.

The first round of the FIA International Cup for Cross-Country Bajas, which will be run in Saudi Arabia at the end of January, was deprived of its status as an event, counting for points in the series.
