GLOSSARY

 


HOMOLOGATION - the code of rules, according to which each vehicle and its parts, as well as any equipment element (such as overalls, etc.) must be in compliance with certain parameters.

 

SPECIAL STAGE (SS, speed test, selective stage) - Speed test in real time. Selective Sections may be run over a course exclusively reserved for the competitors in the event. Crews must drive as fast as they can on such stages. The length of a stage might reach up to 600 kilometres.

 

SUPER SPECIAL STAGE (SSS, SuperSpecial) - Special stage, organised in order to attract the maximum amount of spectators and held with the special observing of safety measures. SSS can be run in the form of either a paired race, when two cars start simultaneously over two parallel routes; or a pursuit race, where cars start with intervals one after another.

ROAD BOOK (Road Book, Legend) - Each crew receives a road book in conformity with the FIA format, containing characteristic notes and/or maps indicating the route and/or the compulsory GPS passage coordinates, which they must observe on pain of penalties which may go as far as exclusion.

 

ITINERARY (Itinerary) - The official document, describing the timing of the event with precision to minutes. The itinerary is published in the Road Book or by a separate bulletin.

 

PARC FERME (PF) - a special area, where it's prohibited to work on a car (service, repair, refuel, etc.). Actually nobody but crews and stewards is allowed to be present in Parc Fermes.

 

TIME CARD - a crew's main document. Stewards record in them the times of crews' arrival at Time Controls and their stage results, and also stamp them at control points.

 

TECHNICAL SCRUTINEERING - General check of cars, including identification of the model and manufacturer, accordance to the nominated category and meeting safety requirements.

 

REGROUPING - A special break, planned by the organizer for changing the start order of crews in accordance to their cumulated time on special stages.
