Final press-conference
Sunday, 01 March 2009 17:29

A question to Miroslav Zapletal:

- Did you have to switch your mind after Dakar to this rally?

- I wanted to participate in this rally. Last year we liked it that's why we are here today.

 A question to Vladimir Nemajer:

- What can you say about the navigation in this rally?

- Actually, the navigation was quite different if we compare it with Dakar. It's a good training for me.

- Don't you think that the navigation in this rally is much closer to the rallying one?

- Frankly speaking, it's difficult for me to compare these navigations, because I know that rally-raids are not like rallies.

Final press-conference:

The prize-winners of the FIA International Cup and the winners of the Russian and the Latvian Championships.

A question to Boris Gadasin:

- What are your ambitions about the FIA International Cup for Cross-Country Bajas? Will you participate in every stage of the FIA Cup?

- Our plans are quite serious. We'll try to participate in every round. But everything depends on the budget.

- Could it happen that you'll concentrate only on the International Cup?

- Of course, the priority is the FIA International Cup for Cross-Country Bajas, but if we have a possibility, we'll participate in the Russian championship, Dakar or the World Cup.

- Could you tell what happened on SS2 when you lost some time?

- We had some technical problems, but they were not significant. There was a problem with steering. And we are happy that in general they didn't influence our final result.

A question to Ruslan Misikov:

- Me too. It's not true, the real speed was 325 km/h. But to be serious, I don't believe it. My speedometer is not as correct as papers.

- Yesterday you told that this Baja was a little bit slower than the previous one. Have you changed your opinion?

- The main peculiarity of the "Northern Forest" Baja is that every time it depends on the weather. This year the weather surprised us, it was soft snow and the studs couldn't touch the surface. And of course, it was impossible to drive as fast as we wanted.

A question to Sergey Talantsev (Ruslan Misikov's co-driver):

- On this event there are many participants who took part in Dakar. But among the prize-winners there are crews who have never tried Dakar? Why?

A question to our national crews.

- What happened on the final stage when your Niva had a strange appearance? What was it? Much snow, many trees, a hit?

Yury Borovikov (crew #27)

- After the SSS we were called "flying" Niva and we decided to prove our status. And on the final stage we rolled over but still we managed to finish and it didn't influence today's results.

- You have had a big experience of participation in rallies. Could you compare the rallying navigation and the navigation you've used here?

Rogozhin (crew #27):

- How do you work in the crew? Do you make some road notes?

- If we have a possibility, we do it, but in the forest we used the navigation system.

A question to the winner in T2 category.

- Your category was very dramatic. You lost one leading team by another but you are the winner. What was it? Was it a full speed or it was a kind of strategy?

- We have noticed that the Latvian cars have quite different tyres. Could you tell what tyres do you use?

Turens (Crew #42):

- We have ordinary summer tyres, we just put studs on them.

- Do you compare your results with the Russian ones or you pay attention only to your rivals?

- Of course, we watched the total results. But indeed it was difficult to get them.

A question to Boris Gadasin and Ruslan Misikov.

- What standings are more significant for you - the Russian Championship or the International standings?

Boris Gadasin:

- As I told before, the International Cup is more important to us.

Ruslan Misikov:

A question to Ruslan Misikov:

- You are one of the creators of the "Northern Forest" Baja. What can you say about next year?

- You know that the race is taking place during the economical crisis and it affected as some organisation moments and the quantity of participants from other countries show. We were waiting for them. But they explained that they couldn't participate because of the objective reasons. It's difficult to stop when we have already held 6 times. I would like to thank our guests. Of course, we could organise the Russian championship, but we have made a too long way to get the international status. We must keep on.

I didn't divide the crews. I watched the maximum results, in the international standings it was the time of leaders, Boris, Miroslav, Alexander and Alexey. I took their time into consideration.
Zelnins (Crew #42):
- First day was hard. We had an advantage and then Konstantin Zhiltsov, Alexey Denisov went off the road. And on the second day we kept our speed. But the intrigue was till the Parc Fermé. We had a stuck generator and the mechanics didn't have enough time to change it. We changed it on the liaison. Then we had to drive like in a rally, we were 4 minutes late to Parc Fermé, however we had enough advantage to be the prize-winners.
- Of course, the "Northern Forest" route is similar to the rallying one, but still it's a cros-country rally.
- Ruslan once tried to participate in Dakar. His car even passed the administrative checks and the car was in the Parc Fermé and it was prepared to participate but there were some objective circumstances. This year it happened because of the schedule. The drivers didn't have enough time to prepare their cars because the ferry came back from Argentina only on February, 18th.
- According to some reports, yesterday Ruslan's crew showed 225 km/h on some parts of the track. How could it happen? Everybody was surprised.
